The Ginger Jar

I enjoyed creating this still life with a color theme of 'blue'.  The challenge was to balance enough warm colors against the cool blues in order to keep the painting from feeling too cool or dominate in blue......just enough blue to accentuate the blue and white ginger jar.  One will notice the warm greens and golds of the pear, the warmth of the books, background, green leaves and warm red stems.  The warm undertones of the foreground table cloth is an additional balance to the cool blues.  Hopefully, you feel the dimension of this painting.
